ESSENCE
A multisensory tasting kit that transforms olive oil degustation into a slow ritual, reconnecting taste with time, craftsmanship, and Mediterranean culture. Through symbolic gestures and tools, participants immerse in a journey that engages sight, touch, smell, and taste.

Craftsmanship
The project was part of the programme Feed Your Future – Engaging Youth for Creative Climate Action, aiming at strengthening the role of design in raising awareness around climate change and food sustainability, led by the Milan City Council in collaboration with IED Barcelona and co-funded by the European Union.
The project was born in Catalunya and is produced locally in collaboration with glass and porcelain artisans, supporting regional craftsmanship. It also celebrates the tradition of olive oil production, Spain being the world's largest producer, with Catalunya playing an important role.
Journey
The tasting begins with frozen olive oil served on a porcelain plate. Using two spoon-like porcelain tools, participants explore the oil as it slowly melts, symbolizing the passing of seasons and production phases. Finally, the oil is tasted through a straw, recalling the professional 'stripping' method. The glass, inspired by olive grove landscapes, enhances the oil’s aromas.
Manifesto
Extra virgin olive oil is placed at the centre of the experience, reflecting the belief that innovation often comes from returning to our roots and valuing high-quality ingredients and craftsmanship. Essence is more than a tasting, it is a meditation on time, transformation, and human touch, a tribute to the Mediterranean spirit and to the artisans who keep its essence alive.
