WIDE EYED WONDER
Public installation in collaboration with Google and the London Festival of Architecture. It represents a living organism, more specifcally a sunfower and communicates how Google’s new headquarter at Kings Cross acts sustainably. This was a group project while studying at the master in industrial design at Central Saint Martins, London.
How to represent ‘sustainability’ in one installation?
Mechanism
The installation aimed to inform passersby about the building’s sustainable design and what it would become as it was being constructed. After researching the architectural elements of the building we chose to present these sustainable aspects in an interactive format, allowing people to engage and experience them frsthand.
The first handle demonstrates the movement of the building’s mullions: they incline following the sun to regulate inner temperature and brightness.
The second handle is to open and close the fower to reinforce its blooming effect.
